Clayton Deuel of Twin Falls, Idaho, manager of “Thursdays,” a discount variety store, fondly remembers his days at Head Start.  Songs he learned, “Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar” and “I’m a Little Teapot,” still resound, along with memories of  playing, acting out “The Three Billy Goats Gruff,” and a visit from Smokey the Bear who taught the children fire safety.  Clayton went on to become an Eagle Scout, graduated from high school, and served a two-year mission in West Virginia.  He has a successful marriage and a successful career as a salesman in a management position.  Also a Sunday School teacher, Clayton values how Head Start helped prepare him for kindergarten, and how it helped him make friends and learn how to socialize.  He remembers his Head Start teachers as “friendly and loving.” Head Start definitely helped Clayton make a good start on the road to a productive life!
