Leanne Felzien of Meridian, Idaho remembers Head Start as a fun place to go, and recalls mostly that they played games.
A straight-A student and co-valedictorian of her class at Borah High, Leanne earned the “Faculty Student Award.” She was also a gifted musician; she played cello in the Treasure Valley Youth Symphony, and made “All-State” and “All-Northwest.” Leanne interned straight out of high school with the US Geological Survey. She from the University of Idaho, summa cum laude with a degree in chemical engineering. The faculty gave her the Student of the Year Award, and she went on to work for Dow Chemical in California.
Now a stay-at-home mom, Leanne says that her major accomplishments are her five children. She home-schools, and has a 35-acre “hobby” farm with her husband, raising alfalfa and custom grain-fed beef. She also works from home for Micron as a programmer, and has an internet web business of her own. Leanne is a twin who has an equally distinguished brother, an ER physician at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. The twins are sharing a 40th birthday this year with Head Start. All have many reasons to celebrate their success!
